ADELE’S new album 25 is due in November. Are Beyonce and Lady Gaga really involved? Pharrell Williams has been talking about working on it, Ed Sheeran says it’s amazing and Kelly Clarkson reckons it will have a country twang.
1. The release date:
Billboard magazine has just announced that Adele is planning to release the album in November.
Although her label, XL Productions, has made no formal announcement, Billboard magazine is immensely powerful in the US, so it seems likely that their information is correct.
That said, Music Week also announced last week that the album would be released in September. This was backed up by Naughty Boy’s declaration that other artists were moving their releases to avoid a clash.
“Adele’s album is coming in September and labels have cleared their schedules because they know it’s going to wipe the floor, he said. “Emeli [Sandé]’s album is coming out next year now.”
September or November? Our money is on the latter.
2. The collaborators:
Lady Gaga started an online frenzy when she posted an Instagram picture of the two of them together just days after announcing that she was working on new material.
Beyonce was also seen going into the studio with the British superstar according to online fan rumours.
What we do know for sure is that One Republic’s Ryan Tedder is back onboard again after co-writing Rumour Has it.
Swedish hit maker Max Martin has also contributed a track and legendary ballad writer Diane Warren revealed that she had worked on some tracks for the new album.
Pharrell Williams has also been talking recently about his experiences working with Adele on the album.
3. The sound:
“It won’t be a big production. I want it to be quite acoustic and piano-led,” Adele told Q magazine back in 2011.
“I have five tracks ready to go. One of them is quite upbeat, a real ‘girl power’ type of song. The whole album will have quite a live feel to it,” she added recently.
Fellow pop star Kelly Clarkson also revealed that Adele was continuing to explore her love of country music.
“I heard Adele is doing something more country-influenced with [her] next record,” she said.
4. Happy or sad?
The album 21 was fuelled by heartache, but Adele is now happily in a relationship with entrepreneur Simon Konecki and they have a two-year-old son Angelo.
“I’m done with being a bitter witch,” Adele herself joked.
Pharrell Williams confirmed that everything is still coming directly from her life and own emotions, though.
“She’s kinda like, ‘OK guys, I’m gonna open my diary for 20 minutes,'” he told Ryan Seacrest.
‘Then she gives it to you and closes it up and disappears, and she’s off with her beautiful boy – and that’s what it’s all about.”
5. It’s going to be amazing:
Hardly a great surprise.
“She is a masterful writer,’ Williams said. “You listen to her albums and the intention is living and breathes.”
Fellow Brit superstar Ed Sheeran revealed that he hasn’t listened to anything yet himself, but has heard that the new material is incerdible.
“Everyone I know who’ve worked on it is just like, ‘Dude… that record!'” he gushed.
“Apparently, it’s really good.”
